Family photographs, documents, stories, recordings and memories can help preserve the history of the communities connected to Kouchibouguac.
Your material remains yours.
Sharing material with Kouchibouguac Heritage does not, by itself, transfer ownership of your original photographs, documents, recordings or other materials.
Contributors may give the archive permission to reproduce material for specific purposes while retaining ownership of the original material and any rights they hold.
Materials for the archive
Family Photographs
Portraits, homes, community gatherings, workplaces, churches, roads, farms, fishing, schools and everyday life.
Historical Documents
Letters, deeds, maps, notices, newspaper clippings, certificates, programs and other historical records.
Family History
Names, relationships, household histories, genealogical information and stories passed through generations.
Oral Histories
Recorded memories, interviews, recollections and personal accounts relating to former communities and families.
You decide how your contribution may be used.
Contributors may choose which permissions apply to the material they provide.
Archive Storage
Allow Kouchibouguac Heritage to preserve a digital copy as part of its historical collection.
Website Display
Allow the material to appear on Kouchibouguac Heritage family, community, story or archive pages.
Educational Use
Allow use in educational presentations, exhibitions or public-history material connected to the archive.
Project Promotion
Allow selected material to be used when promoting Kouchibouguac Heritage or highlighting archive stories.
Every contribution should have a source.
Whenever possible, materials will include information about who contributed them, the family or collection they came from, the creator or photographer when known, and the approximate date and location.
Contributors may request a preferred credit such as “Courtesy of the Robichaud Family Collection” or may request that their personal name not be displayed publicly.
How material may be identified
The archive has received permission from the contributor or known rights holder.
The material has been shared by a family or private collection.
The work has been identified as being outside copyright protection where reasonably established.
The material originates from an archive, museum, library or other institution.
Ownership or copyright information is still being researched.
Please share responsibly.
Contributors should only provide materials they own, are authorized to share, or reasonably believe they are permitted to provide to the archive.
If a contribution contains information about living people, private family matters or children, additional review may be necessary before the material is published.
